DORCHESTER ARMED FORCES DAY
This year the police have agreed to Dorchester's Armed Forces Day being held on a Saturday. This will mean that there will be a large crowd to greet the marchers. The date is Saturday 3 July 2010. Final details have yet to be confirmed but the outline programme for the day is:
1200 to 1300 Lunch in the Corn Exchange for participants.
1315 Parade marches off from North Square '
1320 Mayor will take the salute outside Barclays Bank in South St.
1400 Armed Forces Day service in the Borough Gardens.
1430 to 1630 Music in the Borough gardens.
From South St the march will cross Trinity Street and follow Bowling Alley Walk and West Walks Rd to the Borough Gardens. Veterans who are unable to march will be able to join the parade by riding in WWII military vehicles.
The Dorchester Armed Forces Day committee invites allloeal veterans to take part in this year's Dorchester Armed Forces Day. We hope to be joined by serving armed forces personnel and local cadets. There will be stalls and displays in the Borough Gardens in the afternoon.

10TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER
It was on the 24th April 1999 that Dorchester Branch was born and became a member of No4 Area.
The Branch was commissioned by the No4 Area National Council Member Shipmate David White M.S.M.
So it was appropriate that in 2009 for the branch to celebrate their tenth birthday on the 24th April with the guest of honour being the Chairman of the National Council and No4 Area National Council Member Shipmate David White M.B.E. M.S.M accompanied by his wife Monica.

The main highlight of the evening (apart from the speeches) was the presentations. The Branch Chairman, George Osborne presented David with an engraved plate commemorating the event. Branch founder members were also each presented with an engraved plate.

The Branch nominated the Branch Secretary S/M Roy Dean to receive Life Membership of the RNA in recognition of all he does for the Branch.

S/M George Osborne became the Branch Chairman on day one and his enthusiasm has not wavered and he has believed that the RNA should be well represented in the town of Dorchester. George is seen receiving his Life Membership Certificate from S/M David White. |
